MURDER and attempted murder charges were filed at the Lapu-Lapu City Prosecutor’s Office yesterday against five persons linked to last week’s strafing incident in barangay Mactan.
Demetrio Malingin, Jay Malingin, Deo Malingin, Cyril Zamora and Rosie Dilao were being charged with murder for the death of Prima Aying and attempted homicide for trying to kill Jerome Aying Sr.
A separate charge was also filed against Zamora for illegal possession of firearms and possession of shabu, Dilao was also charged for possession of shabu.
According to Jerome Aying Sr.’s affidavit, he knew personally the three brothers Demetrio, Jay and Deo.
The other two defendants, Cyril and Rosie, were identified by Aying’s 15 year old son, who peeped out the window before the attack when Demetrio allegedly called out his father’s name.
Deo was implicated in the crime after a friend told Jerome Sr. that Deo admitted to him that he acted as the lookout during the attack.
The Malingin brothers are still at large while Zamora and Dilao were earlier arrested.
Jerome Sr. said he believed that the motive of the attack was revenge for the death of the brother of Demetrio Malingin, who was mauled to death by a relative.
Since then, the Malingin and Aying’s feud had resulted in the death of Jerome’s brother Roy, who was allegedly shot to death by Demetrio Malingin./Correspondent Norman V. Mendoza
