MANILA, Philippines—A father was hacked to death by his 22-year-old son in Agusan del Sur Sunday after allegedly witnessing his parents’ argument, police said Monday.
Superintendent Martin Gamba, Caraga police spokesman, said the victim, Dionesio Magcuyos Relatado, 49, was killed after he was hacked several times with a “bolo” (jungle knife) by his son Jackson on Purok 4, San Teodoro, Bunawan in Agusan del Sur at 12:45 a.m.
Gamba said Dioniso, who was drunk, was killed by his son after the latter saw him chased his mother to beat her with a bamboo pole.
Gamba said the tense situation prompted the bolo-wielding Jackson to run after his father and hack him.
Dionesio died instantly.
