Over 2,000 Bukidnon drivers get cash aid

QUEZON, Bukidnon — A total of 555 tricab or “bao-bao” drivers in Quezon town received P5,000 each in cash assistance on Tuesday under a government program aimed at easing the burden of rising fuel prices.
The payout was held at the Municipal Evacuation Center in Poblacion and facilitated by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 10 through its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.
The Quezon beneficiaries were part of the ongoing transport subsidy rollout, following earlier payouts to 950 drivers in Valencia City and 596 in Malaybalay City, bringing the total number of beneficiaries in Bukidnon to 2,101.
DSWD Information Officer Oliver Inodeo said more payouts are lined up for other municipalities, including 93 drivers in Damulog, 80 in Dangcagan, 123 in Kadingilan, 154 in Kitaotao, 360 in Kalilangan, 611 in Don Carlos, 242 in Kibawe, and 1,128 in Maramag.
He said all recipients underwent validation by their respective local government units to avoid duplication.
The assistance forms part of a nationwide effort to support transport workers affected by rising fuel costs, with similar distributions also conducted in other parts of Mindanao.
