Eight areas in Luzon and the Visayas are forecast to experience dangerous heat indices on Wednesday, April 29, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

MANILA, Philippines — Eight areas in Luzon and the Visayas are forecast to experience dangerous heat indices on Wednesday, April 29, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Pagasa defines heat index as the heat felt by the human body when air temperature and humidity are combined.

Dangerous heat indices range from 42ºC to 51ºC and brings increased risks of heat cramps and heat exhaustion, which could lead to heat stroke.

Based on Pagasa’s forecast as of 5 p.m. of April 28, Sangley Point in Cavite City is forecast to reach the highest heat index on Wednesday at 43ºC.

  • Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – 42ºC
  • Cubi Pt. Subic Bay, Olongapo City – 42ºC
  • TAU Camiling, Tarlac – 42ºC
  • Cuyo, Palawan – 42ºC
  • Dumangas, Iloilo – 42ºC
  • Catarman, Northern Samar – 42ºC
  • Borongan, Eastern Samar – 42ºC
