Drug suspect wounded, arrested in alleged shootout with Cavite cops

LUCENA CITY, Quezon — A suspected drug pusher was wounded in a buy-bust operation that escalated into an alleged encounter with the police in Bacoor City, Cavite early Saturday.

The Police Regional Office IV-A reported that operatives from a local drug enforcement unit conducted the sting in Barangay Talaba 3 at around 1 a.m.

The suspect, identified only as alias “Macten,” 24, allegedly sold P2,000 worth of shabu to an undercover officer before realizing the setup and fled aboard his motorcycle.

Police said a brief chase ensued until the suspect abandoned his vehicle and continued escaping on foot.

During the pursuit, the suspect reportedly drew a .38-caliber revolver and fired at pursuing officers but missed.

Police returned fire, wounding the suspect and leading to his arrest. His firearm was seized at the scene.

Authorities also recovered a heat-sealed sachet of suspected shabu valued at P13,600.

Appropriate formal complaints are being prepared against the suspect./gsg
