Marcos vows to boost Local Government Support Fund

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Friday pledged to increase funding for the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) if it is utilized properly.

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Friday pledged to increase funding for the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) if it is utilized properly.

He made the remarks during a rice and financial subsidy distribution program in Batangas City, where a P200,000 financial assistance package was distributed to each of the 1,078 barangays in the province.

“Pag sa ating mga government officials, sa ating mga local government, pagbutihan ninyo itong ginagawa nating mga programang ito,” he said in his speech at the formal launch of the “Sa Batangas, Bawat Bayan Makikinabang” Program at the Batangas Province Events Center in Brgy. Bolbok.

“Pag maganda ang maging resulta nito, asahan ninyo sa susunod na budget, lalakihan pa namin ang pondo para dito,” Marcos added.

Marcos urged local government leaders to use the LGSF effectively.

“Kung hindi sisipagan, kung hindi gagampanan, hindi gagawin ang magandang trabaho ng ating mga local government, ang taong-bayan wala naman nararamdaman,” said Marcos.

(If no effort is made, if duties aren’t fulfilled, if our local governments don’t do a good job, then the people won’t feel any benefits.)

More than 235,000 Batangueño beneficiaries also received 10 kilograms of rice each during the event. /gsg
