4,000 more Calabarzon tricycle drivers receive financial aid

LUCENA CITY, Quezon – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)distributed cash assistance on Tuesday, April 21, to 4,000 more tricycle drivers across the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) region.
The DSWD-Region IV-A said the tricycle drivers, who will each receive P5,000 from the national government, are from Antipolo City in Rizal, and the towns of Alabat, Perez, and Mulanay in Quezon
Since the rollout of the program on April 8, more than 93,000 tricycle drivers in the region have already received cash assistance, according to DSWD-Region IV-A.
DSWD field offices continue to coordinate with local government units to schedule and facilitate the distribution of financial aid.
The cash aid is part of the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program.
Alongside the payout for tricycle drivers, the distribution of the Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens is also ongoing in several areas of the region.
Beneficiaries receiving P3,000 (covering P1,000 per month for January to March) include senior citizens from General Trias City and Naic in Cavite; Pila in Laguna; Lucena City; the towns of Candelaria, Sariaya, San Francisco, and San Andres in Quezon; and Taytay in Rizal.
The social pension program is implemented by the DSWD to help indigent senior citizens meet daily needs such as food and medicine.
In Calabarzon, a total of 333,279 senior citizens are enrolled in the program this year, according to DSWD-Region IV-A. /gsg
