Man bites 2 cops during arrest over disturbance in Marikina

MANILA, Philippines — A man allegedly bit two police officers while he was being arrested for supposedly causing a disturbance in Marikina City, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) reported.
The two police officers, who were patrolmen, were deployed to a home along Dao Street in Barangay Marikina Heights after receiving a call from a concerned citizen reporting the suspect’s alleged disturbance on Wednesday night, according to the NCRPO report.
“The officers saw the suspect on the third-floor rooftop of the residence, shouting while brandishing a knife. The officers immediately approached the suspect and attempted to pacify him, advising him to come down and surrender the weapon,” the police reported.

“However, the suspect refused to cooperate and violently resisted. He then suddenly attacked the officers, biting the right side of [one of the patrolmen’s] body and subsequently biting [the other patrolman’s] left ear, resulting in physical injuries,” it added.
The NCRPO identified the suspect by the alias “Ziegfred,” a 38-year-old construction worker.
Ziegfred was first brought to the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center for a medical examination before being taken into custody at the Marikina City Police Station.
He is facing charges for direct assault, alarm and scandal, disobedience to persons in authority, and illegal possession of a bladed weapon.
He was subsequently brought to the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center for a mandatory medical and physical examination. /mcm
