Comelec warns public vs fake posts, messages
MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Monday warned the public against circulating posts and messages online offering paid assistance to obtain a voter certification, reminding the public that the document is issued free of charge.
According to the Comelec in an advisory, such posts and messages are not authorized by the commission.
“Voter certification is free of charge. Comelec personnel do not collect any fees for processing it,” Comelec said.

The poll body explained that voter certificates contain personal and sensitive information that can only be obtained personally by the voter or by a person authorized by the voter through an authorization letter.
With this, Comelec then told the public to transact only with the Comelec Main Office in Intramuros, Manila, or with Comelec field offices in their respective city, district or municipality. /cb
