MANILA, Philippines – The change in people’s attitude toward the government is the greatest achievement thus far of the Aquino presidency, which turned two years old on Saturday, a spokesperson for President Benigno Aquino III said.

Abigail Valte said the people now viewed the government as a partner in making their lives and that of the country better.

“The government is now seen as a partner and not as an oppressor,” Valte said over radio.

Asked what the greatest setback of the administration was, Valte replied it must be the fact that much more needs to be done.

“The President is conscious of the six years given to him…. There’s so much to do, there’s so little time,” Valte said.

Valte said while there have been gains in the fight against corruption and poverty and in other priority programs of the government, much more needs to be accomplished.

Asked if the President would consider an extension of his term, Valte firmly said, “No.  The President is aware of his limit. Six years.”
