DOTr lauds improvement done at MRT-3 Quezon Avenue

MANILA, Philippines – The Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT-3) Quezon Ave. station’s appearance and facilities have improved, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said on Thursday.

DOTr Secretary Giovanni Lopez made the observation when he inspected the railway’s rehabilitation progress.

“Here in the new structure here at Quezon Ave. Station, it’s even more beautiful now, more airy, spacious and clean,” Lopez said in a statement.

According to the DOTr, the improvements could encourage vehicle owners to commute instead with the rising fuel prices.

The DOTr noted bigger way finders, better and cleaner restrooms, and improved ventilation.

“We want passengers to be able to board more easily, find exit signs more easily, pay faster, and feel comfortable when riding the MRT-3,” the secretary added.

The railway’s rehabilitation project was initiated to improve the condition of commuting for passengers in Metro Manila.

In early February, the Philippines signed a loan agreement with Japan to fund the said initiative. This granted the country a loan of up to P8.15 billion (or JPY21.6 billion) with a 0.8 percent annual interest rate payable in four decades. /mr
