RAFI’s Run 2 Plant 4 GREENIN fires off today in Talisay City

The province-wide massive tree planting project and fun run of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) dubbed Run 2 Plant 4 GREENIN (Generation Redemption and Expansion of Natural resources Initiatives) Philippines will kick off today at the eight-hectare forested area in barangay Jaclupan, Talisay City.

The non-competitive three-kilometer fun run will be participated mostly by volunteer runners from schools, companies, non-government agencies and environmental advocate groups.

There is no exact number of participants but the organizers are expecting  more than a thousand runners.

After the fun run, participants will plant an estimated 220,000 seedlings in over 50 towns of the province. The seedlings will be Philippine native species of trees.

FEATURED STORIES

The running event will be held simultaneously in Davao del Sur and South Cotabato. It aims to continue the five-year agenda of the government’s effort to plant trees all over the country.

The project is also held in line with executive order 26 of President Benigno Aquino III and the Department of Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) billion tree-planting program.  CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
