TACLOBAN CITY — A minor earthquake with a magnitude of 2.6 struck off the coast of Eastern Samar on Monday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

In its earthquake bulletin issued at 8:23 a.m., Phivolcs said the tremor occurred at 8:17 a.m., with its epicenter located about 13 kilometers northeast of the municipality of Hernani.

The earthquake was tectonic in origin and had a shallow depth of 6 km.
