A total of 119 hardcore ultra marathoners will compete in tomorrow night’s 100-kilometer ultramarathon of the Cebu Ultrarunners Club (CUC).
The race starts at the Yapha Beach Resort in Pinamungajan town, southwestern Cebu. The route passes through Toledo City, Naga City, San Fernando, Carcar, Barili, Aloguinsan and vice versa.
According to race director Joel Juarez, the race will have a 20-hour cutoff, which is a generous time compared to the previous ultra runs.
The top three winners in the men’s and women’s divisions will get trophies and free registrations for the second part of the race slated this November.
The champions get a little more incentive as they will be treated to a free overnight stay for two at the Maribago Bluewater Resort in Mactan Island.
Second placers also get a free dinner for two also at the Maribago Bluewaters while the third placers receive P1,000 worth of gift certificates from Nike Park or Benetton. All finishers will receive medals, shirts and certificates.
Free transportation to the venue for participants will be available at the Corominas Bus Lines garage beside Miller Hospital in Tres de Abril at 11 a.m.
Meanwhile, Juarez said the route will have an uphill climb in the first 5 to 10 kilometers from Cebu at the portion of Uling, Naga and another at the 21k mark near Carcar City.
