DAR distributes land titles to farmers

The Department of Agrarian Reform in Cebu marked the 24th year of CARP anniversary and the third year of CARPER recently with the distribution of certificate of land ownership awards (CLOAs) to the 68 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in Balamban town, southwest Cebu.

The covered landholdings measuring almost 72 hectares in barangays Biasong, Vito and Luca in Balamban were previously owned by Irenea Mendoza, Marcelino Bendebel, Norma Tan, Francisco Alonso and Gregorio Trocio.

Another 11 ARBs from nearby town Asturias also received their lot titles that covered 25 hectares owned by Ananias Gilay in barangay Bago and a Development Bank of the Philippines foreclosed landholdings in barangay Ubogon that were covered under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP).

The distribution ceremony was led by Chief Agrarian Reform Program officer for Administration Dr. Andrea Paciana Labra and Balamban Mayor Ace Stefan Binghay at the Balamban Municipal Council session hall last June 13.

During the CLOA distribution, legal officer Edgar Guanzon reminded the ARBs of their responsibilities to make their land productive, to pay the real property taxes due on their awarded lands, and to pay their 30 years of amortization to the Land Bank of the Philippines.

The following day, June 14, the DAR team proceeded to Argao to distribute another CARP lots measuring 111 hectares to 217 ARBs in Argao and Dalaguete towns in southern Cebu.

The ceremony was held at the Nature’s Park function hall in barangay Poblacion, Argao.

The lands awarded were situated in barangays Langub, Bug-ot, Alambijud, Sumaguan, Campi-oan, Balisaong, Lapay, Anajao, Bulasa, Sua, Cansuje and Sumaguan in Argao, and barangays Tapon, Salong, Kutu, and Mantalongon in Dalaguete.
