AboitizPower allocates P37.4M for environmental projects in Bataan towns

ORANI, Bataan — Power giant AboitizPower is investing P37.4 million for environmental projects in the towns of Orani and Morong in this province.
The initiatives include the adoption of 12 additional hectares under the Orani Mangrove Experimental Forest, on top of the 20 hectares previously adopted by the company.
During the signing of a memorandum of agreement (MOA) in Orani on Monday, (March 23) AboitizPower vice president for corporate services Andrea Millend Madrid said the company has committed P24 million over the next seven years for the mangrove preservation project in Orani.

For the “pawikan” (sea turtle) conservation program in Morong, the company will invest P13.4 million over five years.
“We want a safe journey for the pawikan hatchlings to the seas,” Madrid said.
“This may seem like a big amount, but we see this not just as an investment but as an accountability to the environment,” she added.
Madrid also thanked the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the Bataan provincial government, local government units, and volunteers, whom she described as the “heart” of the environmental program. INQ /mr
