
MANILA, Philippines — Multiple episodes of ash emissions from the summit of Kanlaon Volcano were recorded on Saturday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
The state volcanology bureau observed emissions from the summit of Kanlaon Volcano early Saturday from 5:58 a.m. to 9:02 a.m.
“Four episodes of ash emission that lasted 43 to 184 minutes have occurred since 9:02 PM yesterday,” it said in an advisory.
These events produced ash plumes reaching up to 500 meters in height, drifting south and southwest.

Meanwhile, sulfur dioxide emissions reached 2,169 tons per day as of March 20.
According to Phivolcs, Alert Level 2 prevails over Kanlaon Volcano, indicating increased unrest.
Under this alert level, entry into the four-kilometer radius permanent danger zone remains strictly prohibited. /das
