MANILA, Philippines — Following Malacañang’s declaration of March 20, 2026 as a regular holiday, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is suspending the expanded number coding scheme on Friday in line with the observance of the Muslim holiday, Eid’lFitr.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. earlier declared March 20, 2026 as a regular holiday due to the commemoration of Eid’l Fitr, which signifies the end of the Feast of Ramadan.

“Awtomatikong sinususpinde ang number coding tuwing official at special non-working holidays,” the MMDA said in a statement.

With this, the agency urged motorists to plan their long weekend trips to avoid any accidents.

During Eid’l Fitr, the Muslim community in the Philippines usually celebrates the Islamic holiday with their families through prayers and other festivities. 

At the start of the Ramadan season, Marcos called on the Filipino Muslims to “continue becoming a vessel of kindness, understanding, and empowerment throughout this sacred month and beyond.” /edv
