2-year-old boy drowns in Cavite river

LUCENA CITY – A two-year-old boy drowned in a river in Ternate town, Cavite province, on Monday, police said Tuesday.
The Region 4A police, in a report, identified the victim only as “Jhyroz,” a resident of Barangay Sapang 1.
Authorities said the child was reported missing by his mother, “Meralyn,” at around 5 p.m.
She immediately searched for her son in their neighborhood and along a nearby river, but failed to find him.
About an hour later, she returned to the river to continue searching and found the boy floating unconscious in the water.
The child was rushed to a hospital in nearby Maragondon town but was declared dead on arrival.

Police are conducting further investigation. For now, the case has been classified as an alleged drowning incident./coa
