Defensor receives info that Orly Guteza is in the country

MANILA, Philippines — “Where is Orly Guteza?”

Former Congressman Mike Defensor said on Thursday that he received information that Orly Guteza is still in the Philippines, but does not know his exact location.

“That is what I know,” he said while nodding, when asked in an ambush interview if Guteza is still in the Philippines.

He added that he does not have a direct communication with Guteza.

“I just received a message that he is in a good condition,” Defensor said.

When further asked if Guteza may reappear following the recent appearance of the 18 alleged former Marines, Defensor said, “I hope so.”

“If he’ll show up, he’ll show up,” he added.

Guteza is a former security aide of resigned Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co who recently appeared as a surprise witness in the Senate’s flood control probe hearing.

Senator Rodante Marcoleta introduced him before the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee.

Marcoleta said Defensor introduced him to Guteza.

In his affidavit, Guteza named former House Speaker Martin Romualdez in the flood control scandal, saying that he allegedly delivered several suitcases containing “trash,” their code for cash, to the houses of both Co and Romualdez. /apl
