LRTA implements 4-day workweek arrangement

MANILA, Philippines — The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) on Tuesday announced that it will be adopting a four-day onsite work arrangement to conserve energy due to rising fuel prices caused by escalating military conflict in the Middle East.

According to the operator of the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) in a statement, non-frontline personnel will report on-site from Monday to Thursday under the new arrangement, while a work-from-home setup will be implemented on Fridays.

Despite the new arrangement, the LRTA assured the public that train operations and frontline services will continue as normal to ensure the smooth and safe operation of the LRT-2 system.

“The LRTA remains committed to supporting the government’s energy conservation efforts while ensuring that our operations and services to the riding public remain uninterrupted,” said LRTA.

“Through this arrangement, we continue to uphold efficiency, sustainability, and reliable service for our commuters,” it added.

The LRTA’s announcement comes after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced a four-day workweek beginning March 9 for executive branch offices to reduce fuel consumption.

Many other government agencies, as well as local government units have implemented the arrangement since. /mr
