Napolcom adopts four-day on-site workweek set-up

MANILA, Philippines — The National Police Commission (Napolcom) has adopted a four-day on-site workweek set-up for its personnel.

In a public advisory on Tuesday, the commission said personnel in its central and regional offices are expected to report for duty on site from Mondays to Thursdays, then work from home on Fridays in its bid to conserve energy.

“Essential personnel, however, will report onsite for duty to ensure the continued delivery of services,” Napolcom noted.

“Notwithstanding this arrangement, there will be no interruption in the delivery of government services. To ensure continuous service to the public, frontline services in all Napolcom offices nationwide will remain open on Fridays,” it added.

It particularly noted that its one-stop shop, which houses services to apply for the police force’s entrance exam; to lodge complaints; to get clearances; to claim Philippine National Police benefits; and to pay for services, in its central office in Quezon City will remain operational.

The set-up had been in effect since Monday, Napolcom detailed.

The four-day workweek set-up is part of the government’s energy conservation strategy amid rising fuel prices driven by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Outlined by Memorandum Circular No. 114 series of 2026 issued last Friday, the directive singled out health, public safety and emergency preparedness and response agencies from the set-up, ordering them to conserve power without interrupting services. /das
