NCMF chief reappointed

MANILA, Philippines — National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) Secretary Sabuddin N. Abdurahim has been reappointed as the agency’s chief, according to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO).

In a statement issued on Friday, the PCO said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. administered the oath during a ceremony, noting that Abdurahim will serve as NCMF Secretary for another two years.

Prior to his appointment as the NCMF chief, PCO said Abdurahim served for three terms in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Tawi-Tawi from 2016 to 2024.

Among the positions he held were chair of the committees on business, trade and investment, Infrastructure, and budget and appropriation, and vice chair of the committees on health and education.

Before entering public office, Abdurahim spent more than two decades as a medical technologist at the Integrated Provincial Health Office in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi, the PCO said.

It added that he was an accredited Murshid (spiritual guide or teacher) in the Zamboanga-Basilan-Sulu-Tawi-Tawi (Zambasulta) region from 1999 to 2023. /cb
