Cop’s killers caught on security camera?

Police investigators are reviewing the video footage of security cameras of commercial establishments in Danao, hoping that one of them recorded the gunslaying of SPO2 Roberto Canencia who was killed along Pio del Pilar Street on Monday.

So far blurred images of two men on  a motorbike tailing the policemen were viewed in footage from the ASPAC Bank where Canencia drove by on his own motorbike.

Supt. Ricky Delelis, chief of the Danao police, said the killing was well planned and  executed after Canencia was driving home from a court hearing, possibly the work of hired killers.

There were  few people   at noon along Pio del Pilar Street, which is usually a busy road.

The bank’s security video didn’t record the actual attack, where Canencia was shot in the front and back by separate motorcycle-riding assassins.

Delelis said he was hoping the actual killing was caught in the CCTV camera of ORO China pawnshop area.  Canencia was killed in front of the store.

Delelis said he already wrote the pawnshop’s management for permission to view the footage.

Police also spoke to the security guard of the pawnshop, its staff and sales ladies of a nearby store.

The ASPAC footage showed two men on a white motorycle  wearing helmets and  bonnets  that covered their faces. The backrider, believed to be the gunman was also wearing white shirt and glasses.

The images were blurred and the plate number of the motorcycle  couldn’t be seen. The same white motorcycle was seen returning to its origin,  presumably after the crime.

Delelis said he  believes the killing was connected to the drug  case  Canencia attended which stemmed from his arrest last year in the house of suspected drug personality Marites Dalumpines.

Delelis said investigators are also exploring other motives such as personal grudges or revenge since Canencia was involved in several anti-drug operations in the past years./CORRESPONDENT JHUNNEX NAPALLACAN
