To closely monitor  traffic  flow  and  ensure  quick  response  during emergencies, the operator of South Luzon Expressway (SLEx) said all-weather rotating  cameras  are now positioned at predetermined points to complement regular patrols along the busy route during rainy season.

South Luzon Tollways Corp. (SLTC) president Shadik Wahono, in a press statement, said PTZ (pan tilt zoom) cameras will be on for 24 hours a day, seven  days  a  week  and are linked directly to the Traffic Control Center (TCC) that monitors the SLEx that stretches from the Alabang viaduct to Calamba City and extends to Sto. Tomas, Batangas. SLTC is the concession holder of SLEx.

“The  cameras  are  an  integral  part of our traffic monitoring system and these complement our regular patrols at the SLEx,” Wahono said.

Acquired in 2010, the PTZ cameras are located one kilometer apart along the whole stretch of SLEx. They can rotate 360 degrees and have an effective range of 2 kilometers.
