Advocacy run vs torture ‘punishes’ motorists in Edsa morning traffic

Manila, Philippines—Some motorists were stranded in traffic along Edsa southbound during an advocacy run Tuesday morning, according to a radio report.

About 600 participants used two lanes and buses were not able to use the yellow lane, which contributed to the heavy buildup during the rush hour, the report said.

Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said the  heavy buildup from the advocacy run that started 6 a.m. lasted only for less than an hour.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines, together with the Commission on Human Rights and United Against Torture Coalition, held an advocacy run against torture to commemorate the United Nations “International Day in Support of Torture Victims.”

The run was assembled at DILG Compound Building on Kamuning Street and the participants sprinted southbound lane of Edsa until the finish line inside the military’s headquarters at Camp Aguinaldo.
