LPA seen to become Cyclone ‘Dindo’ brewing near Eastern Samar—Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines—An active low pressure area (Alpa) seen to become a cyclone will bring rains in parts of the country, the state weather bureau said early Tuesday.

As of 2 a.m., the Alpa was seen 750 kilometers east Northeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Should it become a cyclone, it will be called Dindo.

Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms becoming cloudy with widespread rains over Bicol Region, Palawan, Eastern Visayas and Northern Mindanao, which may trigger flash floods and landslides, Pagasa said.

Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, it said.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest to south will prevail over Northern and Central Luzon and coming from the southwest to west over Southern Luzon and Visayas. The coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the southwest with slight to moderate seas.
