Castro starting to show old form

AFTER STRUGGLING to find his groove early in this conference, Talk ’N Text’s spitfire guard Jayson Castro is slowly finding his rhythm and showcased it in spades en route to earning the Player of the Week award for the period of June 18 to 25 in the PBA Governors’ Cup.

Castro averaged 20.5 points and 3.5 assists while coming off the bench. This has helped the Texters find their way back in contention for one of the semifinal slots in the ongoing tournament.

The man known as “The Blur” has missed the team’s first four matches to recover from an ankle surgery.

The No. 3 pick overall in the 2008  draft scored a team-high 23 points in helping his team  cruise to an 109-89 victory over Barako Bull last Wednesday, making eight of his 13 field tries and going a perfect 4-for-4 from the stripes.

In a 113-111 decision over Ginebra just last Sunday, the former Philippine Christian University and national team standout scattered nine of his 18 points in the fourth period, including four during a critical stage after the Kings had threatened to within 108-109.  Talk ’N Text’s has now jacked its win-loss record to 4-3 for third spot./Correspondent Jonas Panerio
