Marcos’ review of ICI report may be out this February — Palace

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s review of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure’s (ICI) accomplishment report may be released this February, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said Friday.
At a briefing, Castro said the ICI must continue fulfilling its mandate while awaiting the result.

“They have already submitted their report, and whatever the President’s decision will be—whether it should continue or not—they must continue working. We just have to wait for the President’s announcement,” Castro said in Filipino when asked to comment on ICI Chairman Andres Reyes’s statement that they will fight until the very end “if allowed.”
“But for now, there are no restrictions, and the ICI continues its work,” she added.
She said Marcos and Reyes have not yet met to discuss the ICI’s fate, but the President is already reviewing the commission’s 125-day report.
“Most likely, we will know by February, to the best of our knowledge. But I am not saying this will directly signal the President’s decision; as far as I know, most probably by February there will be an update,” she said.
On Thursday, Reyes said he is preparing a 140-day report detailing the commission’s accomplishments with “more recommendations.”
Reyes is the only remaining commissioner at the ICI following the recent resignations of former Public Works Sec. Rogelio “Babes” Singson and SGV Country Managing Partner Rossana Fajardo. /mcm
