MANILA, Philippines—Roughly P1-million worth of property went up in smoke in a fire that flattened a house in Surigao del Sur Sunday afternoon, police said Monday.
Superintendent Martin Gamba, Caraga police spokesman, said the 45-minute blaze swept through a two-storey residential building on Barangay (village) Unidad, Cagwait at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
The fire, Gamba said, started at the master bedroom on the second floor of the building owned by Felix Ruiz, 72.
“Ruiz and his family were at the nearby beach resort [and] allegedly [they] left the appliances plugged in to electrical outlets,” he said.
No casualty was reported, Gamba said. Jamie Marie Elona
