Psychological test important in Chief Justice selection, says Escudero

MANILA, Philippines – Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero on Monday explained that the psychological test that the nominees for next Chief Justice would have to go through was an important requirement but not entirely new to the selection process.

Escudero, the congressional representative to the Judicial and Bar Council, told Radyo Inquirer 990AM that the test was essential in studying the character of an applicant.

The JBC has extended the deadline for nomination to July 2 to allow more applicants to join the  search for the next  Chief Justice .

To date, Escudero said that five of the 50 nominees for the Chief Justice post have declined.

The JBC is eyeing the submission of its recommendations to President Benigno Aquino III by July 30, 2012. Aquino has 25 days to choose from the list.
