PNP probes supposed kill plot vs Cebu governor

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Sunday said it is already investigating the death threat made against Cebu Governor Pamela “Pam” Baricuatro.
This was after the governor bore an alleged P2.5 million bounty on her life, with a hired killer from Mindanao having been tasked with the hit—allegedly planned to take place outside of Cebu.
According to the PGen Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. in a statement, he already ordered intelligence units to investigate the death threat.
“We have already mobilized our regional personnel not only to step up the security measures but also to identify and run after all those behind this threat,” said Nartatez.

The PNP chief added that he has also ordered the deployment of additional tactical security personnel to ensure there will be no loophole on the governor’s security.
Furthermore, he assured the public that the PNP continues to strengthen coordination with local authorities and maintain a visible presence in all areas frequented by Baricuatro.
Meanwhile, Nartatez said the same security measures extend to all public officials who experience the same harassment and threats in the performance of their duty. /cb
