Strong quake hits far eastern Russia – USGS

MOSCOW – A 6.1 magnitude quake hit Russia’s far eastern coast on Sunday, the US Geological Survey reported.

The quake struck at 11:15 am (0315 GMT) on the coast of the Kamchatka peninsula, about 580 kilometers (360 miles) north-northeast of the regional capital Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, at a depth of 17 kilometers, the USGS said.
