She added amihan also causes the cold weather in the country, especially at night until dawn.

Shear line, or the narrow boundary where the cold air from the northeast monsoon and the warm, moist air from the easterlies converges, affects Caraga and Eastern Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte, and Davao Oriental, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms, the state weather bureau said.

Over the weekend, partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies will be experienced in most cities in the Philippines, with rain showers and thunderstorms, Pagasa forecasted in their extended weather outlook.

As of Jan. 30 and in the next two to three days, no typhoons or weather disturbances within the Philippine area of responsibility are being monitored by the bureau. /das
