Senate sets example in EVIDA rollout with EV charging stations

MANILA, Philippines — The Senate inaugurated its first solar-powered electric vehicle (EV) charging station as part of its push toward clean energy and sustainable practices.
On Monday, the Senate said the launch coincided with the International Day of Clean Energy.
“The project, completed on January 22, introduces two 7-kilowatt chargers powered by 36 bifacial solar panels installed on the roof of the Senate canteen,” it added.
The charging station provides free renewable energy for electric vehicles owned by senators, Senate officials, and employees, and supports the implementation of Republic Act 11697, or the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA).
