Senate finalizes list of ethics and privileges committee members

MANILA, Philippines — The Senate on Monday named and finalized the members of its committee on ethics and privileges.
At the Senate’s plenary session, Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri moved to elect minority bloc senators Joel Villanueva, Bato dela Rosa, and Bong Go as members of the committee.
Subsequently, having received no objections, Zubiri’s motion was approved by Senate President Vicente Sotto III.

In a separate message to reporters also on Monday, Sen. JV Ejercito, chairman of the chamber’s panel on ethics and privileges, bared a list showing the complete members of the committee:
- Sen. Kiko Pangilinan — Vice Chairperson
- Sen. Risa Hontiveros
- Sen. Erwin Tulfo
- Sen. Joel Villanueva
- Sen. Bong Go
- Sen. Bato dela Rosa
Ex-officio members:
- Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri
- Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo Lacson
- Senate President Vicente Sotto III
The Senate committee on ethics and privileges is responsible for reviewing complaints of misconduct against the chamber’s members to maintain integrity, dignity, and good reputation.
It may act on complaints from fellow members or the public, initiate its own investigations, give ethical guidance, and recommend sanctions for improper or disorderly behavior. /cb
