Security officer arrested for rape

A security officer of a racing club who was accused of raping a female colleague was arrested by  members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on Thursday.

CIDG agents  went to the office of the Manila Jockey Club at  Ortigas Center in Pasig City to serve a warrant issued by Judge Antonio Reyes of Pasig regional trial court Branch 71 for the arrest of  Michael Angelo Rearte.

Rearte was accused of raping a club  employee on Dec. 5, 2011, after a  party at Eastwood City Mall in Quezon City.

The accused has  denied the  charge, but admitted taking the woman to a motel, supposedly with her consent.

The woman  has resigned from the  club, claiming that  nothing had come out of the complaint she filed, a source who requested anonymity said.
