Runners gear up for a test of endurance and stamina when the Cebu Doctors’ University hosts the Two Bridge Challenge on Aug. 21 starting at the CDU campus at the North Reclamation Area in Mandaue City.

The race is the sixth edition of the CDU Run and will offer a gruelling 21-kilometer half marathon category with a route passing through the Old Mactan Bridge and the Marcelo Fernan Bridge. There will also be 13k, 6k and 3k categories.

“Runners these days are not satisfied with short-distance races that’s why we are putting up a half marathon event to please them,” said Potenciano “Yong” Larrazabal III during the formal launching yesterday at the Pino Restaurant in barangay Lahug, Cebu City. The launching was attended by CDU president Potenciano Larrazabal Jr., Run For Sight Foundation board member Dr. Peter Mancao and Lapu-Lapu City Councilor and sports tourism chairman Harry Radaza.

The two bridges will serve as an obstacle for long-distance runners who will compete in the 13k and 21k races. Unlike last year, the 3k category will have a separate route. The Run For Sight Foundation will be the beneficiary of this running event.

Registration fee is pegged at P600 for the 21k race, P450 for the 13k, P300 for the 6k and P250 for the 3k category. Cash prizes will be given away to the winners in each category courtesy of ThreeSixty Pharmacy.
