A PILOT and a brother of Rep. Benhur Salimbangon of Cebu’s 4th district lost valuables in separate car break-ins that happened minutes apart yesterday in Lapu-Lapu City.
At 12:15 p.m., John Michael Verga, 26, a pilot of a private company residing in barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City, discovered that the rear glass window of his car was smashed. Verga’s car was parked outside the Mactan Doctors’ Hospital.
Taken from Verga’s car were a laptop worth P64,000, an Airband transreceiver worth P15,000, an Aviation headset worth P15,000, three pilot licenses and a pilot’s logbook.
About 15 minutes later, unidentified thieves also burglarized the car of Freddie Salimbangon.
Freddie’s car was parked outside MB’s Tavern restaurant just a few meters from the Mactan Doctors’ Hospital.
Police said the thieves shattered the rear windshield of Freddie’s car then took an Omega watch worth P60,000, a checkbook and important documents.
Police said no one was able to see the two car break-ins. Verga and Freddie reported the incidents to the Lapu-Lapu City police. /CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
