DOH on Code White for Nazareno 2026

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) is on Code White alert from January 6-10, 2026 in preparation for the Feast of Jesus Nazareno. 

A code white alert is raised to ensure that all assigned medical personnel, medical equipment, and facilities will be ready to respond to emergencies.

“Tatlong araw bago ang Traslacion 2026, itinaas na ng Department of Health (DOH) ng Code White Alert bilang bahagi ng paghahanda sa inaasahang pagdagsa ng mahigit 8 milyong mga deboto ng Nazareno,” DOH said in a statement on Tuesday.

(Three days before the Traslacion 2026, the Department of Health has raised the Code White Alert as part of its preparations for the influx of almost 8 million devotees of the Nazarene.)

The DOH also said that it will deploy over 200 emergency health personnel to extend immediate assistance in 20 DOH health emergency response stations while 20 DOH hospitals will be on standby to cater to medical needs on the day of traslacion.

Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa reminded devotees of safety measures.

“Make sure dala niyo yung gamot niyo, tubig, at yung damit ay maluwang. Magdala ng I.D, baka himatayin kayo at di kayo maidentidy. Identify niyo yung medical stations,” Herbosa said in a press conference on Monday. 

(Make sure that you bring your medicines, water, and you’re wearing comfortable clothes. Bring your I.D so you will be easily identified if you lose consciousness. Be aware of the medical stations.)

The Philippine National Police (PNP) will also enforce gun ban from January 8 to 10, 2026, signal jamming, and no-fly zones for the feast. The PNP also said that it will deploy over 18,000 police officers for the annual religious celebration. 

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso earlier announced that the classes in all levels and work in local government offices will be suspended on Friday, January 9.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday declared January 9 as a special non-working holiday in Manila in observance of the Feast of Jesus Nazareno. /gsg
