Genebraldo leads Calltek past Bankers

AERL Genebraldo posted a double-double performance to lead the Calltek Trojans to their first win of the season via a, 67-47 dismantling of the JP Morgan Chase Co. Bankers last Tuesday in the northern division of the 2012 Sun Cellular E-League for Basketball at the City Sports Club-Cebu Gym.

Genebraldo scored a game-high 28 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, including seven offensive rebounds as the Trojans snapped a five-game losing skid to finally barge into the win column.

Jan Pierre Gellez and Cedric Junius Uy backed Genebraldo with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Marriel Barrera finished with 14 points, Rengie Cabanday added 11, while Jonathan Zaragoza had 10 for the Bankers, who fell to 1-6 (win-loss).

Defending champion Stream Ingenyouity, on the other hand, stayed within the northern division leaders by downing the 1&1 Marauders, 83-41.

Reigning MVP Sylvester Millevo fired 14 points, John Jess Cajuelan and Edward Castañeda had 10 points each for Stream, improved to 5-1, good for third place.

Convergys leads the northern race with a clean 5-0 slate followed by Aegis which is 6-1.

Raymaond Basañez tallied 12 points in the Marauders’ fourth loss in seven starts.

In the southern division, SSI Pure Science nailed its third victory via a low-scoring, 47-40 triumph over the Teleperformance Lions.

Beau Josef Orbe led SSS (3-2) with 10 markers, while Frenche Bonn Petallo also finished with 10 points for the Lions, who absorbed their fourth defeat in five battles. /EDITORIAL ASSISTANT CALVIN D. CORDOVA
