DOTr warns vs scam caller posing as undersecretary

MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Monday cautioned the public and its partner agencies against individuals falsely claiming to be an official of the agency.

According to the DOTr, it received reports of an individual posing as Undersecretary Ramon Reyes, calling regional directors of the Land Transportation Office for online banking details through the mobile number +639675241412.

In a statement, the DOTr reminded that its officials and employees “will never ask for personal or online banking information under any circumstances.”

“All communications from the DOTr and its officials come from the agency’s verified channels,” the DOTr added.

The agency also warned the public not to disclose personal and sensitive information over the phone, to remain vigilant, and to report similar incidents to its commuter hotline: 09209643687. /atm
