11 hurt by firecrackers in Bicol
LIGAO CITY — The Department of Health Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) Bicol has recorded 11 fireworks-related injuries across the region.
In a bulletin released on Monday, the DOH said there were two victims in Albay, two in Camarines Norte, six in Camarines Sur, and one in Catanduanes from Dec. 21 to 28.

Based on surveillance reports, most of the injuries were caused by kwitis, boga, and piccolo.
All patients underwent medical treatment and were later sent home.
Dr. Rosa Maria Balisnomo-Rempillo, DOH-CHD Bicol director, reminded the public to avoid using fireworks in the New Year’s celebrations to prevent incidents that could require surgery, or worse, lead to amputation./coa
