‘Carina’ to bring heavy rains in northern Luzon

MANILA, Philippines – Tropical storm “Carina” (international name: Talim) was expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Wednesday and would affect the extreme northern Luzon, National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council executive director Undersecretary Benito Ramos said.

In an interview over Radyo Inquirer 990AM, Ramos urged residents of Ilocos Norte, Cagayan, Apayao and Batanes to prepare for heavy rainfall as Carina moves between the northern tip of Luzon and Taiwan from the West Philippine Sea.

Ramos said he was presently in Region 1 to check their disaster preparedness and warned that Ilocos Sur, La Union and Zambales would also be affected by the weather disturbance.

The tropical storm, he said, was expected head to Okinawa, Japan.
