A HEART attack was the cause of death of the British consultant of Timex Philippines who was found unconscious in his parked car in a mall in Cebu City on Monday noon.
An autopsy report showed that John Christopher Hayes died of myocardial infarction with pneumonia, said Senior Insp. Jul Mohammad Jamiri, homicide police chief of Cebu City.
The autopsy was conducted by Chief Insp. Martin Fuentes.
Hayes, 51, was found unconscious in his Mitsubishi Fuzion SUV parked at the basement 2 of Ayala Center-Cebu.
Paramedics tried to revive him to no avail.
Police said the driver’s seat was reclined and that there were no signs of forced entry or struggle.
The British national also didn’t suffer any external injury.
Jamiri said police asked the mall management to show video footage of their security camera in the basement but there was no footage that captured Hayes’ vehicle.
Hayes’ co-workers at Timex Philippines in Lapu-Lapu City had been looking for him after he failed to report for work on Monday morning.
His co-workers went to Hayes’ residence in Silver Hills Subdivision in barangay Talamban but he was not there.
They then asked Globe Telecom to locate him through his cellular phone using the global positioning system.
He was traced to the mall at the Cebu Business Park, where security officers traced his car in the basement. /CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
