Titans, Vipers score victories in E-League

THE TELETECH Titans took sole possession of the number one spot in the southern division standings, while the Aegis Vipers stayed on course for a top seeding in the northern division race after they posted contrasting wins in the 2012 Sun Cellular E-League for Basketball at the City Sports Club-Cebu Gym.

The Titans was never really threatened in dispatching the Cebu Global Warriors, 64-53, while the Vipers had to come up big in the endgame before downing the erstwhile unbeaten ePerformax Reds, 72-66.

Lourenz Limpangog erupted for a game-high 25 points to lead Teletech, which overtook the Accenture Sharks for the number one spot in the southern division with their fifth win in six games. The Sharks are 4-1 (win-loss).

Rowen Tagalog scored 17 points, while Jay Paradiang added 12 for Cebu Global, which tasted its third loss in five outings.

Ryan Veloso, meanwhile, fired 21 points and hauled down 11 rebounds to lead Aegis’s sixth win in seven battles. Clifford Amarado scattered 17 points and Dean Junber Escalon added 15 for the Vipers, who turned a 39-34 halftime deficit into a 54-52 lead heading to the final period.

The win pushed the Vipers closer to northern division leader Convergys Wolves, who are the lone unbeaten team left in the league at 5-0.

John Ryan Benlota led ePerformax with 15 points, Alejandro Ruiz chipped 14 points, while Rius Anthony Agua had 13 markers in ePerformax’s first loss in five games.

The Qualfon Knights, on the other hand, easily improved to 4-3 via a default win over the Xlibris Publishers (0-4).
