3 Luzon provinces under thunderstorm advisory

MANILA, Philippines — Heavy to intense rain showers are expected to persist across three provinces in Luzon on Saturday afternoon, according to the state weather bureau.

In its thunderstorm advisory issued at 2:05 p.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the following areas are forecast to experience heavy to intense rain showers with lightning and strong winds within the next two hours:
-Pampanga: Lubao, Masantol, Sasmuan, Macabebe, Apalit, San Simon, Minalin, Candaba, San Fernando, Mexico, Arayat, Santa Ana, San Luis, Santo Tomas, Bacolor, Guagua, Santa Rita-Laguna: Santa Rosa, Calamba, Cabuyao, Los Baños, Bay, Alaminos, Santa Cruz, Magdalena, Pila, Victoria, Calauan, San Pablo, Rizal, Nagcarlan, Liliw, Majayjay, Pagsanjan-Tarlac: San Jose, Capas, Bamban
Meanwhile, the same conditions are already being experienced in the following areas and may persist within two hours and affect nearby areas:
-Metro Manila: Caloocan, Quezon City, Pasig, Marikina, Manila, Mandaluyong, San Juan, Valenzuela, Malabon, Navotas-Batangas: Nasugbu, Tuy, Lian, Tanauan, Malvar-Cavite: Maragondon, General Emilio Aguinaldo, Magallanes, Alfonso-Zambales: Botolan-Bulacan: San Jose del Monte, Norzagaray, Meycauayan, Marilao, Obando, Bulakan, Bocaue, Balagtas, Guiguinto, Pandi, Santa Maria-Rizal: Rodriguez, Baras-Quezon: Tagkawayan
Pagasa advised residents in these areas to “take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards, which include flash floods and landslides.”
The weather bureau earlier said the northeast monsoon, or amihan, and the shear line are currently affecting Luzon. /jpv
