MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said water level in dams throughout the country was still at safe levels Monday amid heavy rains in several areas brought by Typhoon “Butchoy.”

Dr. Susan Espinueva, hydrometeorological division chief of Pagasa, told Radyo Inquirer 990AM that all dams were “generally above rule curve” – meaning, there was still enough water to sustain the needs of the public.

Espinueva said Ipo dam needed to let go of some water, but added it was only “minimal” thus, should not cause any fear to affected residents.
