A total of 268 families who were affected by the fire that struck Zone Camansi, sitio Calderohan, barangay Paknaan in Mandaue City last May 23 received assistance from Vicsal Foundation Inc.
Last May 29, the foundation gave out grocery items of rice, canned goods, noodles and toiletries.
The distribution was done by Marcelyn Rubica, Vicsal’s program and evaluation officer, with Mandaue City Vice Mayor Glenn Bercede, City Councilor Jimmy Lumapas and barangay captain Malaquias Soco.
The activity was in line with VSF’s corporate social responsibility to uplift the lives of the less fortunate.
Recently, the foundation also mounted relief operations to help 588 families affected by the fire in barangay Luz, Cebu City last May 11.
The foundation headed by Luz Bitang distributed canned goods, rice, noodles, biscuits and used clothing to the residents with the Cebu City Vice Mayor Joy Augustus Young and Councilor Margot Osmeña witnessing.
The fire that swept the barangay’s four sitios — Sto. Niño I, Lubi, Abellana and City Central — brought emotional loss, fear and anxiety to the victims.
