FAKE SURGEON POSTS BAIL

THE 56-YEAR-OLD woman who conducted a botched buttocks enhancement operation on two women posted bail.

Gloria Rabor was released from detention last Monday after she posted bail on charges of violating the Medical Act of 1959 (Republic Act 2382), estafa, and possession of illegal drug paraphernalia.

She paid a surety bond in court to satisfy the P40,000 bail bond on charges of estafa and illegal drug paraphernalia possession, and P10,000 for violation of the Medical Act of 1959.

The charges against Rabor were filed before the Regional Trial Court.

Rabor, in a media interview, admitted practicing without a license.

She said she used to work as an assistant of an obstetric gynecologist who performed cosmetic surgery for 10 years.

When her boss went abroad, Rabor decided to continue the work herself.

She said she performed noselifts on at least 10 clients but that no one complained.

Rabor said the two women asked her to perform buttocks enhancement in Bohol.

The two complainants, aged 34 and 37 sought the help of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas (CIDG-7) after their buttocks got infected folllowing injections of collagen.

Rabor was arrested by police in an entrapment operation in her home last June 6.

The CIDG-7 recovered several medical equipment and syringes at the site.

COUPLE ROBBED IN CARMEN

A COUPLE lost at least P30,000 in a robbery in barangay Cogon West, Carmen town, northern Cebu.

Police said Demetrio Carel, 37, reportedly a loan shark, was driving a motorcycle with his girlfriend as backrider when two men on a motorcycle blocked their path last Saturday.

Police said the backrider of the other motorcycle disembarked, poked a gun at the couple and declared a hold-up.

Out of fear, the couple was forced to hand the cash, two cell phones and at least 13 ATM cards to the robber.

Police said the ATM cards were owned by Carel’s clients.

The robbers drove off toward Danao City, while the couple reported the robbery to the Carmen police station./CORRESPONDENT GABRIEL C. BONJOC
